PSL prepares for eSCM certification

February 23, 2005

Software developer PSL-Columbia is preparing itself for e-Sourcing Capability Model (eSCM) certification by the end of 2005 or early 2006, company CEO Jorge Aramburo told BNamericas.

The company was the first Latin American software developer to achieve level 5 in CMMI (Capability Maturity Model Integration) certification in 2003. It also employs the Six Sigma solution for software development and quality control.

"We were also the first IT company in the region to receive ISO 9001 certification, in its 94 and 2000 versions, which we received in the 90's," Aramburo said.

In 1997 the company began improving its internal processes in an effort to be more successful in the worldwide market.

US certifications company Grafp Technologies ensured that PSL implemented all best practices included in the CMMI model.

"All these certifications show the level of maturity in our engineering processes. Today, PSL operates with the best quality and costs indicators known in the world for the type of software we develop," he added.

During 2004 the company grew its sales 80% compared to 2003 and expects to record a similar growth during this year. One of the main goals for 2005 is to consolidate operations in North America and Europe.

The service business unit is responsible for 70% of the company's revenues. PSL offers software development and maintenance as well as consultancy services.

PSL has subsidiaries in Colombia (PSL), the US (PSL International) and Europe (PSL Europe). It has a development center in Murcia and commercial offices in Madrid. The company has clients in England, Spain, Canada, the US, Mexico, Panama, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Ecuador and Colombia.
